Satyajeet Tambe



Satyajeet Sudhir Tambe (born 27 September 1983) is a prominent youth leader of the Indian National Congress from Maharashtra. He is currently the President of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress ,the largest and oldest democratic youth organization in the world. He is very active in youth politics & strongly believes in encouraging more youth to take up politics. During his tenure as MPYC president, several youth congress volunteers have won the local & assembly elections in Maharashtra.

Early Life & Education

Satyajeet Tambe was born in Sangamner to Dr. Sudhir Tambe (Member of Legislative Assembly- Maharashtra) and Mrs. Durgatai Tambe (Mayor of Sangamner). His Grandfather Bhausaheb Thorat was a prominent freedom fighter and one of the pioneers of the cooperative movement in Maharashtra . He belongs to a highly educated family who have been actively involved in Social work in & around North Maharashtra. He is aso the nephew of Balasaheb Thorat, Cabinet Minister in Maharashtra Govt. and his Grandfather Bhausaheb Thorat was .
Satyajeet Tambe completed his graduation from Pune University & went on to attend the Harvard Kennedy School of Government for his post Graduation.

Political Career

Satyajeet Tambe started his political career from grassroots politics starting as a Congress worker in 2000. He won the Zila Parishad Elections in 2007 at just 24 years of age, becoming one of the youngest members to win ZP elections. He was a ZP member till 2017 & during his tenure ushered in many initiatives like Water ATM & ‘Ek Diwas Shikshanacha’ .
In 2018, he was elected as the president of Maharashtra State Youth Congress in a closely contested elections beating Amit Zanak & Kunal Raut to the position. As president, he transformed the Youth Congress into a force to reckon with in Maharashtra Politics. During his tenure , he started the ‘Super 60’ initiative during 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections that helped the INC win 28 seats that it had lost in the last elections. He also pioneered a separate ‘Youth Manifesto’ for the assemebly elections. Several other successful initiatives like ‘Super 1000’ , Flood relief & assistance and Covid-19 Helpline were also carried out during his tenure.
He is new generation politician focused on Urban Development and keeps a keen eye on global geopolitics. With a clear developmental agenda , he is considered to be one of the leaders close to Rahul Gandhi.


Entered Politics in the year 2000


From 2000 to 2007, he was the General Secretary, Maharashtra of National Students Union of India (NSUI).

Zilla Parishad

He was the member of Ahmednagar Local Governance Body Zilla Parishad (ZP) from 2007 to 2017.

Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC)

Satyajeet Tambe’s Burgeoning popularity among youth saw him become the General Secretary of MPYC in 2007, a position he held till 2011. His stellar work in mobilising the youth saw him elected as the Vice-President of the organisation from 2011 to 2014. He was further elected as the president of MPYC in 2018.

Jawahar Lal Nehru Youth Centre

He was a member of Jawahar Lal Nehru Youth Centre from 2009 to 2014 working with many Nehruvian stalwarts like late Dr. S.N. Subbarao.

Social Work:

Satayajeet Tambe has been an active social worker since a young age.
He runs an organisation ‘Jahind People’s Movement’ that aims at creating awareness among people for their rights & duties. The Organisation also helps the weaker sections of the society with medical, financial & other assistance as required.
A brief summary of his social work initiatives are as follows:
Organised a job fair through ‘Yuva Manch’ in association with MIT Pune for Unemployed Engineers
Yuva Kalyan Shibir through Jain Yuva Manch for training & recognising achievers.
In January 2003 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule , he helped establish ‘Jain Mahila Manch’ for promoting Women Self Help Groups.
He has been organising Community Weddings through Jaihind Yuva Manch since many years.
Every year, he takes along youth on trips to study different aspects of cities through the initiative Jai Hind Yuva Trip
He also conducts Environment Awareness Rally to make people aware about the importance of environment & steps to contribute to stop climate change.
Tree plantation drives for a healthier environment across North Maharashtra.
Young farmers Recognition & awards through ‘Yuva Shetkari Sammelan’.
He keeps organising various community engagement programs like ‘Laughter Challenge Show’ , ‘Fitness Club’ , ‘Cleanliness Drives’, ‘Sarpanch Sansad’ and similar other initiatives.
Jai Hind Sports Festival to promote sports among youngsters.

Personal Life

Satyajeet Tambe is married to Dr. Maithili Tambe and they are parents to a daughter.


Satyajeet Tambe is focused on Urban Development, Youth Empowerment & International Politics. He volunteered in 2016 US Presidential elections. An avid reader and a frequent columnist , he has also written a book titled ‘Andolan’ which is a historical account Protests in India outlining the culture & importance of protests. He has also translated a book ‘Citizenville’ on Urbanisation & public participation by California Governor Gavin Newson in Marathi.
